A lawsuit has recently been filed against H&R Block Inc. for its refusal to pay its tax professionals for mandatory training sessions between tax seasons pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Because the lawsuit was filed as a nationwide collective action, other similarly-situated H&R Block tax professionals may be eligible to join the lawsuit to recover their unpaid wages.
It is estimated that more than 100,000 tax professionals for H&R Block prepare tax returns for clients annually. A majority of these tax professionals, who prepare tax returns for clients during consecutive tax seasons, are believed to be subject to H&R Block’s pay policy at issue in the lawsuit. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) may permit these H&R Block tax professionals to recover unpaid wages for these 24 hours of mandatory training, plus liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees and litigation costs.
If you worked as an H&R Block tax professional during the last three years and were required to complete unpaid, mandatory training between tax seasons, you may be eligible to join this lawsuit and seek unpaid wages. For more information, please contact us at (610) 941-4204 or www.pbmattorneys.com.
