The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) today, has issued a nation-wide recall of approximately 600,000 cribs sold at “sold by retailers including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Target Corp., Bain Capital LLC ‘s Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. and Babies “R” Us, a unit of Toys “R” Us Inc.”
Specifically, the recall stems from concerns that “the cribs are hazardous because of potential problems with the hardware that could enable the drop side to come off the tracks and create a gap that may lead to entrapment and suffocation of an infant.” See the Complete Recall Here.
Simplicity, Inc. (now owned by SFCA, Inc.) is headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The CPSC has reported that, “it is aware of nine incidents in which the drop side on the crib has detached, but caused no injuries.” The CPSC’s recall follows a similar recall last month of nearly 900,000 Simplicity Bassinets that “federal regulators have linked to two infant deaths.”
