Baby Slings Could Be Deathtraps

On Wednesday, Infantino LLC, the California corporation that manufactures a variety of products for babies and children, recalled two products in its line of “baby slings”: the “Slingrider” and the “Wendy Bellisimo.”

In the wake of three reports of infant suffocation deaths resulting from the slings, the company is said to have recalled approximately 1 million of the slings. According to the recall poster available through the Infantino website, the company advises that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission “warns parents and caregivers on the use of slings with infants younger than four months of age due to a risk of suffocation.” The company has advised consumers to stop using the slings immediately and return them to the company for a replacement product.
