Privacy Matters: Involuntary Membership Sign-up, Monthly Fees, and Failure to Provide Refunds — Consumer Class Action

A Company called Privacy Matters, a purported online service provider of free credit reports, is signing up individuals for their service without their explicit consent or permission.

In fact, there are numerous reports by consumers who made purchases online using such services as Intellius, Freecreditreport.com, Publicrecordsnow.com, Classmates.com, and other background, credit, and online services, and are now being subjected to monthly billing by Privacy Matters.

There are also reports by consumers, detailing the great difficulty in cancelling such monthly billing, including obtaining a refund. In fact, many consumers report not noticing the monthly charges on their banking statements until months have passed, at which time Privacy Matters will only agree to refund the consumer for the past month and not for any previous charges.

If you or someone you know has been subjected to Privacy Matter’s membership enrollment and billing practices, please contact our law-firm for a free consultation.
